Celebrating Christmas on 6 January
Monday 23rd January 2017
At Liverpool College our Eastern European and Spanish students celebrate Christmas on 6 January rather than 25 December. For Eva Obersneider from Estonia, Anastasia Marmisa from Latvia and Daniil Ujacov from Moldova this is the traditional, historical Christmas time when Santa brings the presents and regional dishes like the Napoleon, a sweet dessert made from thin layers of pastry with a thick condensed milk and butter filling is baked and eaten. Another tradition is to swim in icy plunge pools then relax in saunas.
Here, Daniil has carefully prepared and baked each pastry layer one by one before putting the dish together. He wasn’t rushing out to find an icy plunge pool though!
